The WrapUp

iphoneThere were a lot of links that we provided you today.  Nothing compares to the top story in my mind, which is the new iPhone app that allows you to watch live NCAA Tournament action from your phone.  Courtesy of CBS and MobiTV, you can now watch four, first round games simultaneously as long as you pay $5 and you have an iPhone, which of course I do not.  Technology is a great thing, but it seems to me that we are getting a little out of control with this college basketball thing are we not?  I’m all for skipping work and class to go sit and watch games on your TV or at a bar.  I am even guilty of watching CBS On Demand last year in order to watch more games than what we got from our cable service.  Still, watching games on a phone seems beyond obsessed to me.  Here’s the kicker, it only works where wi-fi is present, not on AT&T’s 3G network.  So, if you are at work you can now watch games on your phone without your boss ever knowing, as long as you don’t scream obscenities at your phone.  So, the app doesn’t help the majority of people who would actually use this service in a safe matter like while driving our cars or walking down the street.  To finish up this post, I would like to summarize.  This app seems beyond ridiculous, but if I had an iPhone I probably would have signed up for it already just so I could sit on the beach with my phone watching the tournament.  (What beach you ask?  Say “Hi” to us in Miami folks!)

Here are the top stories we linked you to today:

-An exlanation on why March is so Mad!

-I honestly didn’t know about the RBI (Renewing Baseball in the Inner city) program.

-The best announcers in college basketball.  I am not shy to say that I LOVE Gus Johnson.  He can make a 40 point blowout exciting.

-Post about the proposed rule changes.  Is it weird that I agree with almost everything he says?

-Cool technology.  Hopefully something like this becomes affordable for teams to look into…

-So this is how you use Twitter?  I’m guess I know how college basketball players could use it.
