As the NBA Playoffs continue, many season awards will be handed out.  We’ve already seen MVP and ROY winners named among others.  Also, the naming of the All-NBA Teams are always a big deal.  Just yesterday the All-Defensive Team was announced.  So, in honor of these types of awards, I present to you my NBA All-Obnoxious Team.  Check it out: Read more

Boston is in Trouble

The Boston Celtics better come back down to Earth rather quickly after that improbable seven-game series against Chicago.  Not only did they take way too long to beat a young, mediocre Bulls team, but they probably wore themselves out to a point where Orlando might just waltz out to a quick 2-0 (even 1-1 would be big) series lead before Rondo can even pick up a flagrant foul.  I don’t think Boston has enough left in the tank, or a deep enough roster, to compete with the Magic.  Here’s why: Read more

The WrapUp

The NBA playoffs are off and running with some great games thus far.  The one that surprised me most was Chicago @ Boston.  Not only was I shocked that the Bulls won, but I couldn’t believe a defensive minded team let a rookie score nearly 40 points.  It’s pretty obvious to me that without KG, Boston is in big trouble.  Their defense will always be worse without Garnett in the middle as he is a tremendous player and leader.  This leads me to think back to last season and want to give KG all the credit for making the Celtics champions.  Someone else better step up soon to set the tone on defense before they get bounced in the first round.

KG Missing More Time

kgarnettWell, Boston. It could be a rough post-season. I’m not saying that the Celtics have no chance, but it isn’t looking good. Why such pessimism you ask? It is being reported that Kevin Garnett could miss a wee bit more time than was originally expected. Surprise! I feel stupid for actually believing he was going to be fine come playoff time after missing the last two months of the regular season.

So, what does this mean for the defending champions? There is no way I would feel comfortable totally burying the team because they have still been solid without KG, but it is not the same team. Garnett brings an element that no other player can bring. While I think he gets a little over the top with his emotion it can’t be measured how much that passion brought Boston the NBA Championship last season.

In the end, it sounds as if KG missing the playoffs will most likely happen. I’m not going to lie and say I’m sad. The Celtics kicked my Pistons out of the playoffs last year so I have to hate them! (I don’t really hate them) But the road to the finals will be much easier for the Cavs. Yes, I know the Magic exist, but does anyone really see them winning a seven game series against Cleveland? Finally, a shout out to my Pistons who could have matched up with the Celtics, but they instead decided to choke down to the eighth seed. Good move guys.

McHale’s Decision, Grinnell Shooter, Lebron is good, Flynn

Kevin McHale has made enough poor moves as GM of the Wolves to last a lifetime.  Ever since drafting Kevin Garnett McHale has tried to out-smart himself in the draft.  He’s performed two astonishingly awful draft day trades that have set the Wolves back enormously.  I can honestly assume that if he would have kept Ray Allen, the Wolves would have at least one Championship by now.  And, Brandon Roy was an obvious choice so I won’t even go there.  Just read this article and come back to complain with me…

-Remember when we had doubts about Lebron?  Funny…

-Why wouldn’t Flynn test the waters?  I hope he comes back.
