Jason Whitlock is Trying Too Hard
It’s getting ridculous. Whether he is talking about Serena Williams having too big of a butt, Steve McNair being a bad person just days after his murder, or calling Martellius Bennett racist for a funny YouTube video, this guy is out of control. I understand why he is popular, to a point. He is not afraid to be controversial, which is good, to a point. Now he is picking on people and topics for no good reason. It is painfully obvious that what Big Daddy Drew said over at Deadspin is indeed true!
In fact, I’m sure those are his exact marching orders from FOX. “Hey Jason. Go write some crazy shit that people will notice.” But his efforts to stir up controversy now seems to scream, “OPRAH! HAVE ME BACK ON!” It’s a neat little bit of irony, given that Whitlock is chastising Marty B for drawing unwarranted attention to himself while using his column to more or less do the exact same thing.
Well, now Mr. Whitlock decided to go after marriage and athletes. Awesome. He is saying that athletes should never get married and are never faithful. My problem is that there is no point the column other than to gain attention.
They say it’s cheaper to keep her. The truth is, most athletes should never purchase anything. Just test drive. That way, the new car smell they love never goes away.
That paragraph right there is one of the most offensive things I’ve ever heard from a national columnist. I’m not personally offended, but he is basically telling athletes that women are objects and they should all should be treated to one-night stands. Thanks Fox Sports for some great, thought provoking writing.
